Local Outreach

First United Methodist Church of Ardmore is dedicated to serving the community through many different ministries. Listed below are just a few of the different ways we reach out to show love to our neighbors.

Wednesday Morning Ministry
Every Wednesday morning we have volunteers from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, who serve in rotation, giving vouchers from the Welcome Center. These vouchers are good for one entree from Jimmy J’s in Ardmore (one per person and the person must be present to receive a voucher). Volunteers also provide information for the many different resources available in our community.

Ardmore Soup Kitchen and the Food & Resource Center
Our church also serves at our local food bank and soup kitchen at various times, through rotations with other churches and organizations.

Jail and Prison Ministry
A FUMC sponsored program developed to provide hope, grace, and love to Inmates. Kim Hunt leads a ministry that serves those incarcerated in the Carter County Detention Center and maintains contact with those who are released or transferred to another facility.

“Jail Ministry” is the work of God’s Holy Spirit to draw His men and women back into the fold through an outpouring of His grace and revelation of the Word. While incarcerated in our county jail, the truth of their identity in Christ is revealed and their purpose restored. While in our state prisons, they are mentored spiritually via correspondence and encouraged in their faith by your help in meeting basic needs. Since 2016, this ministry has touched the lives of over 120 women and 40 men. Fifty of those men and women are now serving God and sharing His Word of Hope behind prison bars. Many are now working and producing fruit in our communities.

Cude Clothes Closet
Our Clothes Closet offers free clothing for anyone in need. Assistance is not based on income and does not require a referral. They are located on our campus in the new metal building on F St NW, between W. Broadway and Palmer St. This ministry is open on Mondays from 1:00-3:00 PM and Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 AM.

Grace Resource Center
We donate monetarily to the Grace Resource Center on a monthly basis. For anyone needing financial assistance of any kind, we refer them to the Grace Resource Center (GRC). Staff at the GRC will contact our office if any additional funds are needed to assist an individual or family.

Holy Cow! Ministry

A FUMC sponsored program that was formed with the express purpose of providing beef to shelters and ministries that provide meals and housing to people in the Ardmore area. Holy Cow! Ministry was started by Kent Donica as a way to combine “what he believes” with “what he does.” The operation is simple – Holy Cow! receives donated cattle, has it processed into ground beef, and distributes it to the: Salvation Army, Children of the King, Family Shelter, Children’s Shelter, Broadway House, Naomi House and Destiny Center.

One cow being processed produces approximately 400 pounds of ground beef. In its first month of operations, Holy Cow! Ministry donated more than 2,300 pounds of ground beef that came from seven donated animals.
